SINGAPORE!! Champion of Tiger Cup 2004

This is purely a soccer post...so for ppl who are not interested in soccer....dun have to waste your time okie....haha...though i still think it should make a good read...lolz~

Finally!....yes finally, the much maligned soccer team of Singapore has done themselves and the fans who support them the much deserved justice of clinching the Tiger Cup 2004. I admit I was really impressed by the way Singapore actually won it.

Came into the tournament as underdogs, deemed as failures by some from the media, I think they have done very very well to prove themselves worthy to don the national colours and to have 55,000 roaring fans behind them. I must say I am proud of the performances by every individuals in the team as they overcame challenges with the confidence and flair like as if they have already done it thousands of times before. 3 Cheers for the Lions.

Being at the stadium itself certainly brings out the passion and patriotism in everyone, including myself. I swear I didn't even feel that hyped up during National Day Parade....haha...the atmosphere at the stadium tonight was just so overwhelming...simply beyond description.... :)

I think its a good end to a tournament played at this time when soccer should be not even be on the mind of anyone....furthermore....being marred by so much controversies...no thanks to unsupporting behaviour from a certain group of uncultured players from some 3rd world country. The boos and jeers they received tells much of what people think of them. I think tonight's final serves to be a very good lesson for those ill-mannered scums on how this game should be played. Indonesia, on the contrast, were gracious losers even though they knew they had the odds stacked against them even before the match started. No temper flares, no malicious challenges...just plain good attacking football. The applause and cheers they received from Singapore fans when they received their medals were mere testaments of that fact.
3 Cheers for Indonesia too.
