~~ Blogging for the sake of....????? ~~

Been exploring and reading alot of blogs for the past few days...what started out as an attempt to see some new pretty face bloggers(Haha!!!) ended up with me getting more than I initally asked for. I have to admit, I visit some blogs with the intention to see photos ONLY, that's about all. But if their language manages to grab my attention, then they will be on my favourite list for at least a period of time.

Anyway, the search has led me to many other blogs of different genres through the links available on the blogs I initially visited. Great exposure I would say, since I came across blogs that contain details of its owner's day to day life, to some who utilise their blogs to bring across their political agenda. Of course, there are some other blogs which are utter crap and did not even deserve more than 3 seconds of my time. Somewhat like mine. Wahahaha!!

Which brings me to my point here, why do people blog? And should our blog be exposed to the general public who are all strangers you might not have seen before? I do not have such a worry because so far my site meter has assured me that whatever I post on my blog will be shared only among the few people I know who would bother to read the crap. Some of these crap I posted before reflects my thoughts on particular events that occured or simply my rantings just because I felt like it. I always think it would be nice if we could actually look back 2-3 years on and see what we have posted before. Then we could spend some time and recollect the events that we went through with relative ease because everything is documented. Hmm...I am looking forward to doing that in future. Heh...

I do remember mentioning before that I would love to keep my blog simple and I do have an easy task at that. I admit I am rather uncomfortable to divulge too much of myself to people I do not even know. Not that it matters, just that...well...it really does not feel right. Without making any particular reference, I would assume that higher readership would also mean you somehow lose the freedom to blabber whatever you want without fear of offending any particular group of people. That about kills all the fun that is to blogging. I am sure many of the famous bloggers have been through that before. I wonder how many would actually silently wish that their own personal space could have just remained the way it was.

A trade off between fame and privacy, I seen many meaningful blogs close down just because it was generating unwanted attention. Meaningful blogs in a sense that it really depicts the owner's life and thoughts the way it is, without any real attempt to beautify or sensationalise. As a matter of fact, I read a few blogs just today that really touched me. So much so that I actually went on to read the past archives so that I could relate to the thoughts of the particular blogger. It really may sound absurd that one would spend time reading about another person who is totally unrelated and not of any particular significance, but I really found it an enjoyment. The pleasure of being able to relate to the life story of someone else and from it derive some thoughts of your own. A meaningful learning process in itself.

I realised all these blogs that I came to enjoy reading the most all possesses similar traits. Which is what I mentioned earlier on, all kept simple and private. Well, now maybe not so private now since they will have one more anonymous reader in me but I guess keeping it that way would be good enough. They probably do not know my existence and would blog the way they used to. And I will continue to enjoy reading whatever they deem fit to share. Keep it up, my "new friends!!"

~~ Like seeing a good old fren ~~

My sec sch frens would know I was crazy over a particular singer during those days. While most of them do not really understand why I liked his songs so much, I did not really care though. Why do you need to justify liking something? I just dunno....his songs, his voice just struck a chord with me. He is 张克帆。

Just saw him on TV in the charity show, and he sang some of my favourites like 爱错了and 用尽一生的爱. Quite a nice surprise for me since he has sort of disappeared for almost 6-7years. If my memory do not fail me, his last album was during my poly days. I think the standard of his singing is still there though he has obviously 发福....haha!! But then again, who am I to judge him...lolz!!~

Suddenly had the urge to listen to his songs again but realised I only have one of his album left...quite a few disappeared...maybe thrown away by my mother during spring cleaning...or with friends who borrowed it and "forgot" to return. Anyone still have his mp3s?? Would appreciate it if I can get it from you all. :)

**ps** This post was supposed to have been published on Sunday night but blogspot screwed up somewhere somehow. I thought they eaten up my entry and feeling very pissed off did not want to type it all over again...haha. But ta da!! suddenly its back! Dun ask me why. :p

~~ Bangkok Revisited ~~

I am back from Bangkok!!!!
Its been almost 3 yrs since the last time I went to Bangkok on a pure leisure trip. Relishing the opportunity to get out of Singapore for awhile and let my hair down enjoying the cheap and good food/shopping over there. Should have blogged about this yesterday if not for the laziness in me plus the splitting headache I had....concussed almost the whole day.

I can simply sum up my Bangkok trip in 6 words.
"买东西 吃东西“.....hahaha

The hotel this time round was Baiyoke Sky Hotel. A nice change of location from the Siam Square Area since my previous stays were in Novotel and Asia Hotel. Baiyoke Sky Hotel is in the heart of the Pratunam area. Infact, a night market was there for us the moment we stepped out of the hotel. Those who are familiar with Bangkok would know that Pratunam is very famous for its wide extensive range of garments and apparels. Its not a wholesale market for nothing. Haha. Quite an irony though, that we actually did not explore much of Pratunam, rather we spent more time in shopping malls like Siam Square, MBK and Central World Plaza.

Anyway, Baiyoke Sky Hotel takes pride in being the tallest hotel in Thailand, I would even suggest its the tallest in South-east Asia though. The view at the top of the hotel was breathtaking, surpassing the view we had in Singapore over at New Asia Bar anytime. The quality of the food within the hotel itself was very good too and the price reasonable too. Enjoyed my stay there very much. Perhaps the only drawback about the hotel is that the evening traffic around the hotel can get really congested making it a tad inconvenient.

I think its too tedious to list our the itinery from day one and on. So I shall just include a summary of the places we visited and the highlights of the place. Haha.

Shopping Malls

MBK

The very much famous MBK, known to be the largest shopping mall in Thailand, certainly lives up to its name. A total of 7 storeys, MBK sells everything under the sun I would say. It took us a day to cover the whole of the 7 storeys. And subsequently we actually made revisits because we realised we could get everything we need there. It was also there that we had our best meal in Thailand. Sharks fin and Birds Nest in Nam Sing Restaurant. Price reasonable, quality of food, Fantastic.

Central World Plaza

Previously known as World Trade Center, its the first place we visited after we were done with checking in. Central World Plaza isn't small as well but it covers a less extensive range of products in comparison to MBK. More high end I would say. Nontheless, we had our field day in stores like Levis and Alain Delon etc. We were brought there via Tuk-tuk. A nice experience for my friends in a tuk-tuk as it wiggles it way though the horrendous Bangkok traffic.

Siam Square Area

Directly opposite MBK, it sells mainly female products and thus felt a tad out of place there. The repitition of the products from stores to stores didn't help as well.

Siam Discovery Center

Another high end shopping mall. All your Armanis and Calvin Kleins can be found here. The only thing I enjoyed here...the cool air con. Haha. We had a great lunch here as well in Outback. Its indeed cheaper than in Singapore...but not by much I guess...hahaha.

Night/Weekend Markets

Pratunam

Right smack infront of our hotel, we took our time browsing through the stores there though we didn't buy much stuffs from there. The things sold were quite limited.

KhaoSan

Backpackers' paradise indeed. But packpackers we were not....haha. Not much stuffs for us to buy there as well since everything found there could be found in MBK. Still its a good experience to take in the sight of a more positive aspect of Bangkok's nightlife.

Suam Lum

My first visit here. Fantastic. A night market that sells everything from accesories to clothes to even furniture. That's how amazing Bangkok can be. I think its second only to Chachutchak in terms of size and range of products sold. Spent a whole evening there and its also where I got most of my gifts for friends. Definitely a good alternative to Chachutchak if you are one that cannot stand the afternoon sun.

Chachutchak

The world renowned weekend market of Bangkok. A place where you can really get anything u want. Even snakes and dogs if they are to your liking. To its credit, its now much more organised since my last visit there. However, the crowd is still incredulous and the heat overwhelming. 2 visits there already and I can't even say I covered the whole of Chachutchak. Haha....

That probably sums up my Bangkok trip this time round. All about shopping. Zilch about the Grand Palace I looked forward to going. Haha...abit disappointing but there are still chances next time....lolz. A good 5 days spent in Bangkok for me..blew my budget abit but i think its worth it. The food we ate the things we bought...haha....I am looking forward to my next trip there.

~~ 记得??? 不懂??? ~~

Was clearing my mp3 playlist just now and came across this song which I have never heard for a very long time. "不懂" by 林俊杰. I remembered the first time I heard this song, I was thinking...wth did he sing a cover version of Ah-Mei's 记得?? But it turned out otherwise though, found out that he was actually the composer of the song...heh. And seriously, I prefer his version. His voice coupled with the sad lyrics and the touch of melancholy in the melody...haha.
Yes..I am a sucker for sad songs...wahaha! How contradicting.

Of Luck and Fate....

Luck and fate, believe it or not...I think it plays a very important part in anyone's success or failure. Some people have all the luck...but I am not complaining. I just wished that I could have a little bit of what they enjoyed and I would really be contented. I also believe that there is a reason behind anything that is to happen in one's life. But its up to the individual to interpret if its positive or not.

I used to accord all the wrongs in my life to bad luck and fate. Then I will wallow in self-pity and pray to whoever can help to pull me out of the pithole. Things have changed slightly now. I am still trying hard to convince myself that luck is not the ONLY factor in a person's making but at least I am making some headway. Or so I thought...heh.

I am living a life of mixed luck though. What I mean by that is, I do enjoy some bit of luck in some areas of my life...but I can get really SUAY in other aspects too. I know life is never perfect...I am not expecting it to be too. If only one could have a choice of where they like their luck to be...:p But then again, would I trade my luck if I had a choice? I seriously dun think so..heh

I am fortunate..really fortunate in the sense that I have alot of great friends around me. I consider myself really lucky that at every stage of my life, I had aquintated friends who are truly dear to me. Friends who would be there when you need them, friend who would not hesitate to lend a helping hand. Friends whom you do not have to see each and everyday but the friendship is never deteoriating. Friends who will be with you whether you are in hell or heaven. I really thank them for that though I do not display my gratitude verbally. I guess that's how true friends should be.

I've gone through several bad patches in my life....and if not for friends around me, maybe...just maybe I would have given up there and then. I had just barely recovered from another mini downtime recently...once again all through the help of friends whom I relied on in the past. They might not know how significant their gestures were, but to me...it really matters alot. I am grateful once again.

So I probably wouldn't trade my luck in these valuable friendship I have even if given a choice. I am quite sure about that. :)

I am still wondering what made me post this entry though. But at least it made me feel better knowing that my life isn't that bad after all. As for the other areas where I am really lacking in luck...I guess I just have to make do with it for the time being. Maybe things will get better soon. I hope.
